What does Women’s History Month mean to you?

Genia: It is a time to recognize and celebrate the amazing women who have broken down barriers for all the women who come after them. Celebrating women who encourage their fellow women, lift them up, and encourage them to be the very best version of themselves. Celebrating all of the hard-working women whether they work in the home or outside of the home. This is historically a new concept, celebrating women, and I am happy to be a part of it.

Jessica: Women’s History Month means celebrating all the incredible women who have come before us and celebrating their successes and contributions to society, to science, to history… to all subjects. It means empowering current and future generations of women to keep going, keep dreaming, keep creating, keep inventing, and keep shattering glass ceilings.

How do you celebrate being a woman in your daily life?

Genia: I have had a few jobs in my lifetime, but none of them has even come close to my role as a mother! I am even more blessed that my amazing daughters have four daughters of their own. My role is to continue to remind them they are amazing and can absolutely move mountains and create the change they want to see. I am also blessed as my career with Maxey Cosmetics allows me to celebrate women on the daily. 

Jessica: Womanhood looks different for everyone. For me, it looks like motherhood. I celebrate being a woman in my daily life by raising my daughters to know they can do exactly what they want to do. They can shatter glass ceilings, they can change the world, or they can live a quiet life and paint the trees (my older girl is an artist). There is no box they must fit into; no mountain they can’t climb.

Who is one inspirational woman you admire, whether personally or professionally?

Genia: There are so very many women who inspire me, but when I read this question, the first woman to pop into my head was Dolly Parton. The way she has used her platform to create change for so many women, especially young girls, is amazing. She has never let anyone or anything stop her or change her–and along the way, she continues to encourage other women today which I think is what makes me most admire her. 

Jessica: The list of women I admire is a mile long. While Rosalind Franklin, Kalpana Chawla, and Tammy Duckworth are certainly near the top of that list, the top spot is reserved for my mother.

As a valued female member of the Maxey team, how does Maxey Cosmetics celebrate and empower women?  

Genia: We want women to be their most authentic selves. We want the women we come in contact with to realize they are beautiful, and every one of them deserves to be celebrated. Despite age, ethnicity, or size, we want to help you love your natural beauty.
